The Question!

Microsoft 2010 walks in the room, and boast better productivity, Cisco wizz by stating that they have the networking power to bring the world together Boarder less , Whatsup gold shouts loud, through the air that they can assist you in managing your networks, Adobe CS5 Proclaims your marketing team can get it done in less time. Together they shout we get you to your goal line faster than before.

A loud roar from the crowd below, erupts. The cheers, the shouts or excitement, the enthusiasm is thick. The expectations for this is nothing short of high.

So where do we go from here?

Microsoft Entering The Cloud With The Recent Purchase Of Opalis?

leave a comment »

Cloud computing is on everyones mind. From Google being a front runner in the cloud computing arena to Microsoft wanting a piece of it and potentially knocking out any contenders and title holders. Microsoft is not going to watch the cloud they are going to jump right in. They want piece of the action and this is clear with their recent acquisition of OPALIS Software. CRN

Here are just a few words on what is going on:

Customers are looking for increased operations automation as they build out highly automated and scalable virtual environments in order to not only reduce costs but also to ensure the “services that drive their business are always available,” Anderson wrote.

The Opalis software is easy to use and quick to deploy, Anderson wrote. It also integrates out of the box with System Center to allow it to “integrate with otherinfrastructure software from CA, BMC (NYSE:BMC), HP (NYSE:HPQ) and others to integrate across an IT organization,” he wrote.

Todd DeLaughter, president and CEO of Opalis and a former manager of Hewlett-Packard’s OpenView management software business, wrote in a separate blog post that automated response is a core building block for IT, and is the foundation for cloud computing, which he defined as self-adjusting pools of computing resources that can be tuned based on real-time events.

“This is actually possible today with virtualization software, such as Microsoft Hyper-V Server, and automation tools, like Opalis and Microsoft System Center. The vendor who pulls this together with the cleanest, simplest approach will bring cloud computing to the masses,” DeLaughter wrote.

I think this is great to kick up the competition, all the while offering Medium – Large enterprise businesses more options to do business-as usual. Or need I say it, better than ever.

So where does this leave Google? What is next for us all consumer and Enterprise Techies?

Why?

Oh how happy I was.

Oh how happy I was.

In contemplation on whether or not I should begin this blog. I arrived at the conclusion that I should.  I must do it from the soul of why I enjoy technology focusing on what it offers out lives. However I must incorporate everything about technology that I enjoy and loath. I can not skip around the bush hoping to sugar coat every aspect of what we believe in…nope I must add value to my personal musings.

My mission is to bring those who come across this blog the opportunity to look within my thoughts on the subject of Information Technology and nothing less. I know at time technology can be quite daunting. For some they rather detour through the realm of shortcuts and so on.

For me growing up in the eighties I can remember the first time I came across a computer. I was amazed that I can literally write something onto a Television screen, which was the first thought that I came across my mind. I recall standing in the presence of a Salesman, and mother began to ask him questions on how it was going to make her life easier and  blah, blah, blah. I was too shocked and amazed at what I was looking at to be listing beyond the initial questions, and knowing my mother, there were many. A few days later I was the proud tormented, second in line owner of a brand new IBM, running DOS.

I had no clue what so ever on how to operate one. I ran into my mother study one day and began banging away at the keys. Just impressed that I had that much control over a computer. I continued on for some time, until the screen if I recall correctly went blank or froze, something to that affect.

My action that afternoon led me into a heap of trouble with my mother and not only that cost to repair.  Apparently I entered some sort of code that destroyed the OS…I think. I do not know what the problem was at the time, but I do remember, once I was done it was not working  as it was before I touched the thing. Luckily my hide was saved, my mother had a friend that understood this sort of thing and they drove all the way to NEW YORK from the far reaches of New Jersey, to do this favor. As it turned out she had a very attractive roommate from college, who I had to end up calling aunt Carrol. How Awkward, since it was my first child hood crush. But I am not going to go into that, but this is why I remember as much as I have so far.

Ever since then I have enjoyed computers and everything about them. My love for Sci-Fi movies only fueled the flames. I became someone that wanted to be a user or it as well as an innovator to some extent. I guess the innovation part is still in progress.

I hope this blog can shed light on the questions that are out there. Also taking a look at the the pieces that can be added to the puzzle to complete the need and remove the misunderstanding that can cause a IT timeout. I do not want anyone doing what I did to my mother’s computer, it set her back for a week until her friend came out. So that was a week of being grounded and having to read Hardy Boys novels while my friends played outside.
